Latest scores, week ending Thursday, July 3

Over 40s-North (Sundays in SNEASL)
1  Celtic Masters
1  New Britain United

Both the North and South teams are in the top two of the eleven-team SNEASL Masters (O-40) Division. The South team is ahead by one point. The South team needs a win in order to secure first place and the league championship outright, and the North team needs a win to ensure at least a share of the championship. A draw may let the third-placed Falcon Polonia steal the championship, so it's a Celtic winner-take-all match on Sunday.

The win drops Celtic to second, with a 5W-1L record, and one out of first.  There is no game scheduled for next Thursday: the next scheduled game is Sunday, March 2, at 9:00 PM

Celtic Masters (Over30 Session II at Sportsworld, East Windsor, CT)
4 Celtic (Devine 2, Douglas, Boucher) (2/14)
0 Old But Bold

    NOTES:
First-placed Celtic won its fifth straight match in this session, employing a possession game in the second half to wear out the opposition.  Leading two-nil at half-time with only 8 1/2 men (Sully playing with a pulled hammy) against younger, less bright opposition, Celtic played keep-away for much of the half and scored two more times on the break to take the points.  Overall it was a fine effort despite the absence of star players Kellyer, Owler, and Hendo, with the "Big Fellah" Johnny Vaughan rising to the occasion and bossing the midfield.

The win keeps Celtic top of the league with a 5W-0L record with three games left, two points up on second-placed Bryn Mawr, who have a game in hand.  Click here to see the current league standings and schedule.

Celtic will more than likely play in the Open session beginning March 13, as the O-30 competition is generally minging.
